The hospital, a complex place that combines medical requirements and regulatory constraints, can be built according to two temporal approaches:
- The ‘Slow-Track’ approach, exemplified by the Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc, is based on lengthy consultation, thorough planning and technical rigour, guaranteeing a high level of architectural quality.
- Fast-Track’, as at Benguerir in Morocco, involves superimposing the design and construction phases, considerably reducing deadlines. This method stimulates creativity, efficiency and innovation, while ensuring a rapid response to urgent needs.
The future undoubtedly lies in a hybrid model, combining the in-depth reflection inherent in ‘Slow-Track’ with the reactivity of ‘Fast-Track’, in order to build hospitals that are at once humane, functional and sustainable.
